The hunt for the best mashed potato in Singapore, part 18

The search for the best mashed potato in Singapore continues. I wish the friend of mine whom this series of post is dedicated to, enthusiasm.

On 27 Dec 2008, Sat, I went to the Singapore Flyer complex even though the Singapore Flyer was suspended for service. The reason was to try the Home style mashed potatoes from Jalapeno's Pepper.

The mashed potato there generally has a creamy and smooth texture, with occasionally chunks of small potato bits to surprise the palate.

What is commendable and interesting is the sauce. Most places that sell mashed potato usually uses mushroom-based sauces or brown sauces. This place uses a creamy-looking cream-colour sauce that is sprinkled with spices that delight. The spices are mild and yet lift one's senses.

However, I find the after-taste of the mashed potato and the sauce to be too thick and on the salty side for my liking. Nevertheless, I would still recommend folks who are tired of mashed potato with brown sauces to check Jalapeno's Pepper's Home Style Mashed Potatoes out, for its interesting choice of sauce.

Each serving of mashed potato costs $3 (before GST and service charge). That should be about $3.53 with GST and service charge.

I agree with pinkie that the mashed potato looks different than those usual ones. More interesting looking I suppose.

Pinkie: The mashed potato looks different because of the different sauce used.

Doreen: The mashed potato not only looks different, it tastes different too. :)
