A Yangqin for sale

I was visiting the blog of fellow Singapore blogger, Lam Chun See, Good Morning Yesterday, when I came across his latest post that shares that he has a Second-hand Yangqin (杨琴) for sale.

Seeing the Yangqin brings me good memories of the days when I used to play in the Chinese Orchestra, particularly during my Secondary School years. While I don't play the Yangqin (I play the double bass!), the sight of most Chinese instruments will tend to bring a sense of nostalgia in me.

The asking price for this Yangqin is $600, and it comes with a couple of other accessories. Check out his post, Yangqin (杨琴) for sale, and please contact Chun See directly if you are interested.

  2. Thanks PY.

My daughter's interest in the yangqin wasn't influenced by me. She just took it up for the ECA points; her main interest is the piano.

I learned to appreciate Chinese classical music when I was in NJC. There was this cute girl .....

  3. Jocelyn: I remember you had an ivory pipa. It will definitely have a better resale value if you aren't playing it. But I guess, it also has a higher value if you are keeping it as a collector.

I can't remember what was the other pipa that you had. They did serve you well and have sentimental value. If I were you, I won't throw them away so easily either....at least I want to make sure that they are in good hands.

  4. believe it or not, I've never seen a 杨琴 before. Do you play it like a "ku zhen"?

  5. Doreen: Doreen, I don't play the guzheng, but I know of a good friend who does.
