Sibelius' symphonies did not relate naturally to me initially, but I found myself now gradually acquiring an appreciation for his music.
Yesterday, I took time to listen to a recording of the complete Sibelius' Second Symphony so as to better appreciate how "the work grows almost organically out of a rising three-note motif heard at the opening of the work" (view source). I am impressed to hear how Sibelius did just that.
