What are chords?

In the earlier videos, we learnt to identify all the notes of the keyboard. It is essentially fundamental to identify all the notes of the keyboard when learning to play the keyboard.

In this video, we shall find out more about chords.

A chord is an agreement about three or more notes played together.

While this video does NOT attempt to show anyone how to play chords at all, understanding the fundamentals of what a chord is will be critical.

In the context of Western music, many of the popular songs common use two types of chords, and these are:

i) Major chord

ii) Minor chord

Listen out for these two types of chords.

Recapitulations: Identifying all the keys on the keyboard

When there is a recapitulation of a topic that was already discussed earlier, it would mean that this topic is critically essential to laying a strong foundation.

If I told you that it is more important to know the musical alphabets than to play scales regularly, would you believe that?

This is from my experience. All it takes is to be familiar with the musical alphabets, both in forward and reverse order. Learning Western music becomes a lot more easier and faster with knowing the musical alphabets.
