Hoping for good weather

Today, the day started with gloominess. Dark clouds lurked in the morning at about 9.05 a.m. and soon after, it rained. There seemed to be not much sunshine for the rest of today.

Here I hope, for good weather throughout the late afternoon and evening of tomorrow.

My orchestra will be playing at the Singapore Botanic Gardens tomorrow, at the Symphony Stage, from 6 - 7 p.m.

I remember a few years ago, there was a heavy downpour just before we started having the rehearsals. The rain made the entire stage wet. Awfully wet. Even the chairs which we had set up were wet. We wanted to find mops and cloths to dry the chairs and the stage-floor after the rain had stopped, but we could find none in sight. So we ended up holding the chairs up and attempted to shake off the rainwater on the chairs. Some of us fanned the chairs. A few others went to look for cleaners to help dry the place up.

That very year, the rain stopped before we started rehearsals. I shall say that the rain had delayed the rehearsals, so we started rehearsals late. But the rain left the grass quite wet, so I noticed many of the audience stood up to catch the concert.

Wet weather makes playing the instruments difficult. That year, my double bass bow did not seem to pull very well on the double bass strings. What usually took just some effort to play, took a lot more effort to play in wet weather.

I hope tomorrow's weather would be good. Please. At least for the afternoon and the evening.
